Fishing + Boat Marina in Northern California

Los Vaqueros Reservoir

Trail Closures in Effect | Protecting Nesting Golden Eagles

Every year, beginning in winter, golden eagle nesting activity is monitored, and trails and public areas around the nests are closed. We appreciate your cooperation during the temporary trail closures, as nesting golden eagles are extremely sensitive to people’s presence. Eagles who are disturbed are likely to leave the nest. People must stay at least one-half mile from active nests to ensure the best chances of chick survival.

Current Trail Closures

  • Kellogg Creek Trail from Mariposa Canyon to the Interpretive Center

  • Mariposa Canyon Trail

  • Eagle Ridge Trail from Grassland Trail to Kit Fox Trail

  • Crest Trail

  • Adobe Trail

  • Miwok Trail

  • Los Vaqueros Trail from Black Hills Trail to Canada Trail

  • Homestead Trail

The watershed offers fishing, a boat rental marina, courtesy fishing docks, hiking and multi-use trails, picnic facilities, restrooms, and three staging areas.

Los Vaqueros is a protected watershed environment that provides people with drinking water and numerous protected animal and plant species with a place to live. Because the reservoir stores drinking water, body contact sports (such as swimming) and personal watercraft are not allowed. Fishing from a boat or shore is superb, and recreation opportunities abound. Visit!
